Singer d4vd has not been named as a person of interest despite the police's inquiry into a dismembered 15-year-old girl that was discovered inside his car. However, he's decided to play it safe by hiring a top-notch defense lawyer.

According to a report L.A. Magazine published on Wednesday, October 1, the 20-year-old artist, born David Anthony Burke, has hired attorney Blair Berk to represent him as the investigation into the death of Celeste Rivas continues. Berk has defended numerous celebrities in high-profile cases, including Harvey Weinstein, Johnny Depp, Ye, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and more.

D4vd has been cooperating with the Los Angeles Police Department since Rivas' body was discovered in the front trunk of his Tesla last month. The Tesla was abandoned on the same street where he and his manager, Josh Marshall, stayed in the Hollywood Hills area before it was towed. Investigators have searched the house and even looked for blood. Authorities left the property with a laptop computer and other items. Despite everything they've found, d4vd has yet to be considered a suspect.

Over the past few weeks, police and Internet sleuths have been able to make several connections to d4vd and Rivas. Rivas' mother said her daughter dated someone named David before she disappeared. The singer also hosted livestreams with Rivas and even has the same tattoo as her on their right index finger.

No statement has been issued from d4vd's camp since the investigation started. The only person who has spoken out is Marshall, who recently responded to claims about his involvement in the comment section of a TikTok video about the case.

"This is the only time I’ll speak on this matter. FOR NOW," he wrote. "This has been a tough time for my family as I am a father of 3 children. I received no emails and I’m no one’s room mate, I live full time at home with my wife and kids. My daughter is 14 and this news is affecting so many lives. I never received any emails. I had zero knowledge of anything and I don’t live in California. Also I work remotely 95% of the time and my job doesn’t require me to have much interaction with any of my clients/David, as there are many others that work with him on a day to day capacity, not me. This news is tragic for so many and for her family. I hope the proper authorities get to the bottom of it soon. Let me remind people a lot of this is speculation and alleged. In the meantime, I am with my family helping them emotionally get through the news of this tragedy. Please report on factual information. – Josh Marshall”
