Taylor Swift Explains Uplifting Meaning Behind New Single ‘ME!’: Watch

It’s almost time! Just hours before the official drop of her highly-anticipated new single, Taylor Swift revealed the track is titled “ME!” and features Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie.

“It’s about embracing your individuality and celebrating it and owning it,” Swift told GMA’s Robin Roberts during an exclusive interview that aired during the NFL draft. “With a pop song, we have the ability to get a melody stuck in people’s heads. I just want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves.”

When asked who makes Swift feel better about herself, she gave a shoutout to her seriously dedicated fans.

“The fans are amazing,” she gushed. “I cannot believe how dedicated, how thoughtful — I can’t believe how much they care so it makes it more fun for me to create music [and] to create music videos knowing that they’ll care about little Easter eggs or clues or hints,” she added. “You have no idea how fun that is to make stuff for people who care that much so it’s the fans — they’ve always been there.”

Ahead of confirming the collaboration and track title on Thursday, April 26, Swift released a bevy of photos on Instagram hinting at the beginning of #TS7, posting rainbow-filled images of butterflies, florals, cats and even chicks with sunglasses on. She also made a surprise appearance at the mural she commissioned in Nashville of a butterfly by artist Kelsey Montague.

Fans had a plethora of theories, stemming from the release being connected to Avengers: Endgame to attempting to pick out lyrics from her recent Elle essay and connecting it to the track.

Swift is also dropping a music video and will be answering fan questions via a live YouTube special. Click here to follow along! "ME!" officially drops at 9pm PT/12am ET.
