Mo'Nique Talks Why She Will Never Allow Hollywood To Silence Her (VIDEO)

Over the weekend, Oscar award-winning actress and comedian Mo'Nique took to social media to ask fans to boycott Netflix after the company offered her $500,000 for a comedy special, but gave Amy Schumer $13 million for hers.

“I was offered $500,000 last week to do a comedy special,” she says in the IG video. “However, Amy Schumer was offered $11 million, Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock $20 million.” Mo'Nique goes on to say that after Schumer found out how much money Chappelle and Rock were offered, she went back to Netflix and renegotiated to get $2 million more for her show.

When Mo'Nique inquired about her offer as compared to Schumer's, Netflix said: “Well, we believe that’s what Mo'Nique will bring. We said, ‘What about my résumé?’ They said, ‘We don’t go off of résumés.’” Then, Netflix started admitting the reasons that Schumer was offered that amount by listing her accomplishments of selling out Madison Square Garden twice and her major movie success. Mo'Nique said that sounded like a résumé to her.

Before this call for a Netflix boycott occurred, Mo seemed like she was ready to call out the TV/movie industry on more of its BS. In an interview with Real Radio 104.1's Monsters In The Morning last month, the actress/comedian dropped some knowledge on how Hollywood has the power to silence people and consistently does so.

For example, while speaking about Harvey Weinstein, Mo said: "Fame is a horrible beast because it will allow you to stay silent. It will allow you to say, 'Am I gonna be famous?' Then, I'm gonna sweep this under the carpet and not say anything."

She continued: "That's why I'm in the position I'm in right now with people saying, 'She's difficult. She's demanding. She's this, she's that.' No, what I am is, my integrity is intact. And a dollar bill can't make me change me mind."

That's when Mo gets down to the nitty-gritty. "When you wanna underpay, undercut, when you wanna touch, when you wanna assault... and then you put the line on there, 'You know you might not work again?' Then, dammit. If that's what it comes down to, I've heard that straight up line." Mo declared: "Well let me say this. My phone may never ring again. But, when I look in the mirror, the woman looking back saying, 'We alright,' 'cause I don't want that woman looking back saying, 'What the hell are we accepting?'"
