A dream came true for Lupita Nyong'o at Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony. She won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in 12 Years a Slave, and said during her touching acceptance speech that she hopes the new golden trophy reminds her and others to keep dreaming.

Nyong'o also dedicated the award to the "spirit of Patsy," the abused slave she played in the Steve McQueen-directed drama. She said it doesn't escape her for one moment that so much of the joy in her life is thanks to so much pain in someone else's.
Nyong'o's Oscar victory comes on the heels of a number of wins for the actress this award season, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Independent Spirit Award earlier this weekend.
